Florida Hospital for Women
Paul J. Ford and Company was selected to provide the structural design services for a new twelve-story women’s facility on the main campus of Florida Hospital South. Located adjacent to the existing Anderson Wing and the Disney Pavilion, it is connected to the new executive office tower by an elevated pedestrian bridge.
Featured upon completion will be 332 beds
- 72 Post-partum beds
- 88-Bed Neonatal ICU
- 72 Post surgery beds for gynecology & oncology
- 100+ Beds for future growth
- 14 Labor and Delivery suites
- 13 Operating rooms with robotic capabilities
The primary structural framing system for the 407,000 GSF building is conventionally reinforced cast-in-place concrete flat slabs supported by concrete columns and walls. The concrete walls are designed as shear walls to provide the main wind frame lateral bracing system.
Special design consideration was given to the structure to resist transient vibrations from an adjacent rail line. Level 2 operating rooms require the system meet VC-B vibration criteria for micro surgery operating rooms.
The project includes expansion to the existing energy plant and 22,000 SF of renovation to the existing Anderson Wing.
